Reminder for Tomorrow
Want to do something that could make a HUGE difference?
Our Portland neighbors are trying to develop a sensible pesticide ordinance. Let's all join together to support them by attending this crucial meeting.
They need our help!!
From "Portland Protectors":
What: Portland Pesticide and Fertilizer Task Force
When: Tomorrow Tuesday, June 14th, 6:30PM
Where: Portland City Hall, State of Maine Room, 2nd floor
Attire: (huh?) black or yellow shirts (black and yellow bee stickers will be handed out!!).
Just showing up at this meeting will help keep an eye on the pesticide industry.
After 16 years of hard work by all the citizens asking the Portland City Council to take action on pesticide use, the Portland Pesticide and Fertilizer Task Force meets for the first time tomorrow, June 14 at 6:30 p.m.
The 12-member task force includes a worrying number of pesticide industry representatives. Some have been vocal opponents of the citizen-led efforts in Portland and South Portland to restrict the use of cosmetic lawn chemicals. The task force does NOT include any experts in organic pest management or organic land care.
Portland Protectors need your help to show there is strong citizen support for action and to keep a watchful eye on this task force. Please plan to attend this first meeting. All the task force meetings are open to the public and it is crucial we demonstrate to task force chair Councilor Nick Mavodones that there is significant citizen support for a comprehensive pesticide ordinance.

Hope to see you tomorrow evening!
