TAR SANDS IN SOUTH PORTLAND
STILL A POSSIBILITY.
THE THREAT IS NOT OVER.
It is very possible that we could still have tar sands flowing through our community with two 70 foot smoke stacks spewing carcinogens yards away from Bug Light park. We spoke, and our city council listened and courageously passed the Clear Skies Ordinance. Now Big Oil is suing us to kill this ordinance which is our ONLY means of protection. With their limitless dirty oil money they have waged a very expensive lawsuit against our city.
This is URGENT. The case goes to court December 8th.
THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO!
The city needs money - they need to know the community still supports them.
Your donation is both your voice and your money.
Please give now to the Clear Skies Legal Defense Fund. $10 -$20 is not too much to protect our city. Together we are strong and can stop this threat!

Time to celebrate our new Pesticide Ordinance together!
~ Tomorrow evening ~
What: Pot luck celebration
Where: 4 Gould Rd (corner of Deake), SP
When: tomorrow Thursday, 10/6 at 6PM
Please join us for an evening of fun, food, and revelry, honoring all the hard work everyone has done to help make South Portland a healthier, safer place to live! “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, (s)he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” ~ John Muir
As we continue to "tug" together, we, too, find our community work is intricately interwoven with small communities everywhere working towards their own health and safety - indeed, the health and safety of the entire planet.
Now let's celebrate this moment of victory!
