Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.

First and foremost, here’s an enormous thank you to the ocean of people who came out on Wed. evening!
The South Portland community was absolutely thrilled that our City Councilors voted 6-1 on Wednesday to pass the Clear Skies Ordinance on their first of 2 required votes. A huge crowd of 355 people, wearing sky-blue tee shirts, turned out in support of the ordinance, with South Portlanders speaking in support of the ordinance outnumbering opponents 9-1.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Meade.
Please take a moment today to thank the City Council (emails below) for their strong support of the Clear Skies Ordinance – it will make a big difference. Thank you!
While we are optimistic that the council’s 2nd and final vote on Monday, July 21st will continue to be in favor of the ordinance, we all know that it’s never done until it’s done. So the council still needs all of our support for:
City Council Final Vote
7PM Monday, July 21st
SP High School Lecture Hall, 637 Highland Ave., SP
First, however, the Planning Board will review the ordinance and make recommendations next Tues., where we hope to have a good showing of support as well. So please come:
Planning Board Meeting
7PM, Tues. July 15th
SP City Hall
Our small town vs: Big Oil story is starting to go national, with coverage from California to Connecticut, Kansas to Boston, North Carolina to Florida, Canada, and beyond!
