Dear Protect South Portland supporters,
If there's one thing we've learned over the last year, it's that it takes a village.
It look a village last when we first found out about the oil industry's plans to pump tar sands through our city to educate as many people as we could and get on the ballot.
It took a village to knock on enough doors to have face-to-face conversations with 13,000 people this fall, and thanks to our hard work the City Council recognized that nobody in South Portland wants tar sands here.
And it's going to take a village to finally win permanent protections from tar sands. We can't do it without you. Next Tuesday, May 27th, we're gettin' the gang back together at the Griffin Club for pizza and planning for the final stretch. Can you join us?
The Final Stretch Planning Meeting ...
Tuesday, May 27th at 6:00 p.m.
The Griffin Club, The Windsor Room (in the back of the club)
Address: 60 Ocean Street, South Portland (just a short walk away from our old campaign office!)
YES, I'll join you on May 27th! (Click this link to RSVP)
We're pleased with the progress that the Draft Ordinance Committee has made, but we don't expect the oil industry to go down without a fight. They've already been spending thousands of dollars on misleading ads, and we expect their high-paid lawyers to be out in full force at the City Council meetings.
Next Tuesday, May 27th, we'll be updating everyone on the latest, and discussing plans for the home stretch. There are a few critical meetings coming up that we need input and brainstorming on. And, we'll be serving pizza! (Bring anything else you want for food.)
It's going to take a village to stand up to the American Petroleum Institute's bullying. Will you join us next Tuesday for pizza and planning?
YES, I'll come! (Click this link to RSVP so we get a headcount. Or call Crystal at 671-6393 and leave her a message.)
Thank you for all you do!
Meg, Cathy, and the rest of Protect South Portland
